Cost Plus names Whitney to top merchandising post

Oakland,Calif.– Specialty retailer Cost Plus has appointed George Whitney senior vp of merchandising.

Most recently the founder of a Hong Kong-based home products development trading company, Whitney had previously spent 17 years at Macy’s, including senior merchandising positions in the home furnishings area with Macy’s West. Building on that experience, he worked in merchandising with Discovery Channel’s retail operation and QVC.
