Las Vegas —
Area rug company Abbyson Corp. has signed a lease for a 15,000-square-foot showroom in the not-yet-constructed Building C at the World Market Center here.
The new space, to be located on the first floor by the building's entrance, is poised to be the showplace for the company's new bedding and kitchen textiles products come 2008, when the space is scheduled to open.
Los Angeles-based Abbyson designs and manufactures hand-knotted Tibetan rugs and furniture pieces. It has had a presence at the WMC since the beginning, with its showroom in space 133 in the first floor atrium of Building A. In its new showroom, Abbyson will show for the first time its entire line of home furnishings products as well as the new product categories in the works for debut next year.
"Our goal is to become a complete home furnishings provider for designers and resellers," said Sarah Rahall, director of marketing and sales. Added Yavar Rafieha, vp, marketing and sales: "Signing for 15,000 square feet is a tremendous step up for us. The signing of this lease is a strong indication of Abbyson's rapid growth in the home furnishings industry over the past five years."
Abbyson was established in the mid 1990s, originally as a home furnishings importer. In the past year it has expanded its product offerings, doubled its sales force, created catalogs for its hospitality, rug and furniture businesses, and reorganized its distribution center at headquarters.
