GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General Corporation's board has nominated J. Neal Purcell, retired partner of KPMG, for election to the board at the company's annual shareholders' meeting in Tennessee on May 25.
"We conducted a thorough and lengthy search, and Neal emerged as the top candidate because of his financial and business acumen, his commitment to integrity and his forthright and sensible manner," said Dennis Bottorff, chairman of the board's nominating and governance committee.
Purcell served on KPMG's Board of Directors and its Management Committee. From October 1998 until his retirement in January 2002, he served as vice chairman in charge of the firm's national audit practice — operations.
