New suppliers join summer market for home textiles

-- Home Textiles Today, 6/30/2009 2:16:00 PM

White Plains, N.Y. -- The summer 2009 Home Textiles Market Week in New York, which runs in tandem with the New York Gift Week, will include 40 new international and domestic resources as well as well as fresh eco-friendly products.

The semi-annual market, which is produced and promoted cooperatively by the New York International Gift Fair at the Jacob K. Javits Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94, 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 W New York, will run Aug. 14, through Aug. 20.

“Eco-friendly is on-trend in home textiles, and several market newcomers specialize in ‘green’ products,” said Dorothy Belshaw, senior vice president of the show for NYIGF sponsor George Little Management. “In addition, a wealth of new resources from Canada, France, Japan, India and Pakistan will provide buyers with easy access to unique merchandise from around the world.”

Of the companies new to Home Textiles Market Week, several produce environmentally-responsible merchandise, or import products through Fair Trade agreements with developing countries. For example, Table Manors offers a line of biodegradable placemats and napkins; Green 3 specializes in organic cotton wearables; and Sustainable Threads carries contemporary home and personal wear goods sourced through Fair Trade arrangements.

Twelve companies will join NYIGF – both in At Home featuring Home Textiles at the Javits Center and in other NYIGF divisions. These include: Cotton of the Nile; Designer’s Guild USA; Green 3; Kat Burki Home; The Koko Company; Linen Way; Mingei Japan; Papillon Linens & Dreamfit; Sin in Linen; Sivaana; Sorcha; and Sustainable Threads. Some 200 home textiles suppliers will be located at the Javits Center.

Some 25 companies are new or expanded at 7W New York, located at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue for the market. Among them are: Bodrum; Colomba Living; Creative Bath Products, Inc.; Katha Diddèl; Mohagany by Ra Home; Omniware; Star Embroidery; Tozai Home; Two Lumps of Sugar; and many more.

Six companies will debut in new permanent showroom locations in the New York Market Center at 230 Fifth Avenue. They include: Abhinav International, Inc.; Abrahami Rugs & Décor, Inc.; CGG Home Fashions; Coelima USA, Inc.; Ocean Exim, Inc.; and Park B. Smith Ltd.

Together, the three sponsoring entities will feature nearly 500 mid-to-high-end home textiles suppliers for bed and bath, table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics.

Home Textiles Market Week opens at 7 W New York on Aug. 14; and at the NYIGF and 230 Fifth Avenue on Aug. 15.
