South San Francisco, CA — Mark Grand will join PHI, formerly Peking Handicraft, in the newly created position of coo. In this capacity he will be responsible for running most aspects of the company's U.S. operation. He reports Dicky Lo, owner and ceo, and will join the company on March 10.
"As a company that owns its manufacturing facilities in China, PHI is well-positioned for growth in the future, becoming an even more attractive partner for both retailers and suppliers in the next few years," Grand said. "My joining the company will allow Dicky and Annie Lo to spend more time in China, to find more facilities, expand capacities and product categories, and build infrastructure and logistical support."
PHI currently produces quilts, sheets, comforters and accessories, duvet covers, decorative pillows, window coverings and decorative tabletop items for gift.
Grand was most recently vp, gmm of home fashions at Sears, where for seven years he ran the bed and bath, window coverings, housewares, floor coverings, custom decorating, luggage and RTA furniture business. He also oversaw Sears' re-entry into the mattress business. He retired from the company in July 2002.
Before Sears, Grand was at Strouds for eight years, where he worked in several management positions, including vp, store operations and executive vp/gmm. Earlier in his career, Grand worked for 14 years at Federated's Abraham & Straus and Bullock's divisions.
