Ashford Court doubles capacity in VA facility

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/12/2001 12:00:00 AM

Ashford Court, manufacturer and importer of decorative pillows, throws, bed coverings and kitchen textiles, recently expanded its Richmond, VA, facility by almost twice its original size to 105,000 square feet.

"More importantly, this expansion allows us to more than double our loading and shipping docks from three to eight," said Neil Zuber, president. "Having a larger facility is really important for us because it gives us the opportunity to enlarge our bed covering manufacturing facility and also gives us more storage space for our imported goods."

The new facility is a logical move for the 19-month-old Ashford Court, which for the New York Home Textiles market last month expanded its offerings into new categories beyond decorative pillows.

"The space for the new facility became available and we took it. We've wanted it from day one," Zuber said. "It was a tire warehouse that is part of the same complex we are in and it is adjacent to ours, so all we have to do is cut a hole in the wall and get right into it."

After that, Zuber said, a new fleet of forklifts will be added to the facility for transitioning new product.
