Former Wal-Mart exec becomes Odd Jobs interim chief

South Plainfield, NJ — Odd Job Stores has appointed Steve Furner interim ceo while the company searches for a replacement for recently vacated by Peter Hayes.

Furner has been a member of the company's board since June. Prior to his retirement from Wal-Mart in 1998, he served as president and ceo of Wal-Mart Argentina, capping a long career with that company. Since then, he has been vp of Alliance Consulting, which advises retailers about strategic and operating initiatives.
