Ashford Court finds room to grow in HQ

New HQ and factory will be larger by 50 percent

RICHMOND, VA —

Needing more space to accommodate its growing top-of-bed and table linen coordinates businesses, Ashford Court is in the process of relocating its headquarters and factory to a new site that is almost 50 percent larger than its current location.

The new facility is 60,000 square feet on an approximately 10-acre site that has additional land for the company to build more factory space if and when needed. Ashford Court's current facility is 90,000 square feet and four miles away from the new site.

"We were in desperate need of more space," Neil Zuber, president, said. "Our lease was up, so we jumped at the chance to expand. And this new factory is four miles closer to downtown Richmond and the airport, which is nice."

Zuber said because the site is a former factory for a manufacturer of patio furniture cushions, it is already well configured for Ashford Court's business, which is dominantly a decorative pillow supplier.

New new facility has 18 loading docks — vs. seven at the original facility — and 20 more offices for a total of 34.

With the rapid growth of Ashford Court's top-of-bed business — which is largely imported, Zuber said as much as 20,000 square feet of the total facility will be dedicated to stocking these products.

"Our engineers have laid the whole thing out," he added. "It has great a receiving area, and we are just modernizing some areas, like adding new carpeting to the offices."

Renovations are expected to be completed by the end of this month. The company's new address is 1500 Commerce Ave.
