It's in the bag for P.J. Kids

Princeton, NJ — Making its second foray into the home textiles arena, P.J. Kids is preparing to launch its new bed-in-a-bag line with five designs for girls and five looks for boys.

"It's important for us to have bedding because it completes the package for our retailer partners," Vasso Unks, marketing director, told HTT. P.J. Kids already manufacturers a broad line of juvenile furniture and bedroom accessories. It added novelty-themed, shaped accent rugs — all of which are hand-hooked, loop-and-cut-pile acrylic — 18 months ago as its first home textiles product.

The bed-in-a-bag collection, which is scheduled to debut in October and is titled Better Basics, carries a $199 price tag and targets specialty furniture and children's goods retailers. It falls under the company's Rooms to Dream brand umbrella.

Each bed-in-a-bag set comprises six coordinated items: a twin flat sheet, a twin fitted sheet, a pillow case, a standard sham, a comforter and a bag that also serves as a laundry hamper. All the bed-in-the-bag goods are made and printed in Israel.

The sheets are available in one of two constructions, depending on the design — a 220-count cotton percale or a 100 percent cotton flannel. Comforters are 300 grams of polyester fiber fill and are reversible.

Enhancing the new bedding collections for the girls will be bed skirts with 16-inch drops and split ends to accommodate flat beds and foot boards.

The bed-in-a-bag collection was not designed to coordinate with P.J. Kids' existing accent rugs, but it does match by way of color schemes, Unks said.
