QVC Appoints Kelly vp, Home Merchandising

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 4/27/2009 12:00:00 AM

Television and online multi-media retailer QVC has appointed 20-plus year industry veteran John Kelly as its vp of home merchandising.

For Kelly, this position represents a return to QVC. Most recently, he served as chief merchandising officer for now-defunct Circuit City.

Before that, Kelly served as vp of home innovations for QVC. He was responsible for leading growth in consumer electronics, home improvement, home style and home innovations as well as creating promotions to boost revenue and profits.

In his new post Kelly manages the company's home merchandising categories, including electronics, wellness, cooking and dining.

"John brings strong credentials in strategic planning and implementation of sales and marketing plans for home and technology products," said Doug Howe, evp and chief merchandising officer, to whom Kelly reports. "His unique blend of traditional merchandising and Internet experience will play an instrumental role in growing various merchandising categories at QVC."

QVC Inc. is a 22-year-old wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation attributed to the Liberty Interactive Group, a multi-media retailer. Its programming is distributed to more than 166 million homes worldwide.
