Sears promotes Meads to top Lands' End post

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/16/2004 12:00:00 AM

CHICAGO — Sears has promoted Lands' End executive vice president of merchandising and design Mindy Meads to president and CEO of Lands' End, effective Feb. 1. She replaces Dave Dyer, who left the company last year.

Meads, an 11-year veteran of Lands' End, will continue to serve as executive vice president of Sears, reporting to Alan Lacy, chairman and CEO.

She was named Sears executive vice president and general manager of apparel in April 2003, while continuing her merchandising responsibilities at Lands' End. Meads began at Lands' End in 1991 as vice president, general merchandise manager, and was promoted with increasing responsibilities to senior vice president and executive vice president of merchandising and design. She has held senior merchandising and operations positions at Macy's, The Limited and Gymboree Corp.

"Mindy is an outstanding retailing executive who has built a solid platform from which we can take Sears and Lands' End apparel merchandising to new levels," said Lacy. "Her proven leadership and vision will guide Lands' End to continued success, leveraging the strengths of both direct and retail distribution."
