Wilansky to Exit RVI

Columbus, Ohio —
Retail Ventures (RVI), the parent firm of off-price chain Filene's Basement and footwear discounter DSW, said the contract of RVI president and ceo Heywood Wilansky will end on Jan. 31, 2009 and not be renewed, as a means "to contribute to cost savings objectives."
Wilansky's contract dates to late 2004. RVI sold off its majority interest in the Value City chain last January; that discount operation had been the largest component in the company's retail holdings.
