Caldeira Opens China Plant

$3 Million Complex Includes a Factory, Warehouse, Offices and Showrooms

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/12/2007 12:00:00 AM

Caldeira China, the Chinese subsidiary of the U.K.'s leading dec pillow company Caldeira Ltd., has opened its new 250,000-square -foot complex here, as joint venture partners Tony Caldeira, founder, and Dai Shu Qin, China general manager, cut the ceremonial ribbon.

The $3 million complex comprises a factory, warehouses, offices, showrooms, and staff facilities. Caldeira, a supplier of dec pillows, throws, and ready-made curtains, said it employs nearly 200 people here; the new factory has the capacity to employ 500 and is expandable beyond that. Last month, Caldeira opened a U.S. showroom at 261 Fifth Ave. in New York.

Tony Caldeira said, "This is a landmark project for the company that should take us to new heights. The complex will be the 'engine room' for the group and increases our capacity dramatically."

He added, "The location is good for us as it is in the heart of the home textile area of Zhejiang province. The local government has also been very helpful and I would like to thank them for their support." Several important government figures were in attendance at the ribbon-cutting event.
