Former Spectrum chief Albert passes away at 79

PURCHASE, NY —
Services were held here for Herman "Hy" Albert, 79, former owner and ceo of Spectrum Fabrics, who died on June 9.
Albert joined Spectrum in 1947 and became president in 1964. The company later was sold to Consolidated Foods, now Sara Lee. In 1980 he acquired partial ownership and in 1984 became sole owner. In 1992 a private investment group acquired a majority interest, which was sold to Covington Industries in 1994.
Albert is survived by his wife, Ruth, a daughter, a son and daughter-in-law and three sisters.
Contributions may be made to the Herman and Ruth Albert Thoracic and Oncology Research Center at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.
