Wellman to Boost Polyester Fiber Prices

Fort Mill, S.C. —
Wellman, Inc. will increase the price of all polyester staple fiber products by 5 cents/pound effective with Sept. 3 shipments.
Joe Tucker, vp, Fibers and Recycled Products Group, attributed the increase to the continuing rise in petroleum-based raw material costs. He noted, “Raw material costs will exceed levels beyond those recorded last year following the Gulf Coast hurricanes. We simply cannot absorb or offset these increases.”
Wellman manufactures and markets high-quality polyester products, including Fortrel brand polyester fibers and PermaClear and EcoClear brand packaging resins.
