Jackson resigns as Wal-Mart procurement chief

Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores said Lawrence Jackson, president and ceo of global procurement, has resigned, effective Feb. 9.
Jeff Macho has been promoted to senior vp of global procurement, effective immediately. Macho is based in Shenzhen, China, and will report to vice chairman John Menzer. Macho joined the company in 2005 as vp and managing director of apparel merchandising in global procurement. Earlier he directed international buying for Sears, based in Hong Kong.
Jackson will continue with the Company until Feb. 9 to help in the leadership transition. "We have been fortunate to have had the benefit of Lawrence's experience and drive over the past two years," said Wal-Mart president and ceo Lee Scott. "He has been passionate about keeping us focused on our customer and has played a big role in moving our business forward during his time here."
Jackson joined Wal-Mart in 2004 from Dollar General Corporation, where he was president and coo. He intends to stay active with his business interests through teaching, executive coaching, and corporate board work.
