Oscar Makes Dual Debut

New York —
It was a dual debut at Oscar de la Renta Home during market — bedding to sleep under, and bedding to sleep on.
The first was the debut of Oscar de la Renta Signature Home, the couture collection of decorative bedding. The three beds offer designer touches in tailoring and details, luxurious sheets and a different approach to color than most designer bedding collections.
“It's all about color,” said Mark Rose, vice president, Rose Tree Linens, licensee for the Oscar de la Renta Home bedding program. “Where most luxury bedding collections are soft, almost neutral in color, these couture beds reflect de la Renta's approach to design and color.”
Sheets are 550-count Italian cotton with dressmaker details and are offered in white, cream and gold. The duvet covers, bed skirts and decorative pillows, on the other hand, are colorful and rich in tailoring details.
The collection will be offered to high-end department and specialty stores. Retails for the queen duvet covers range from $399 to $599.
Simultaneously, Kingsdown, the Oscar de la Renta bedding licensee, launched its new technology luxury sleep system of mattresses and box springs. Personal Sleep, the latest in Kingsdown's personalized sleep systems, features a selection process that matches a person with the best bed for his or her body, based on criteria that Kingsdown has developed.
The mattresses are topped with a faux suede that was picked for “its ability to conform to body types,” explained Eric Hinshaw, chairman and CEO.
