Shaw moves higher-end, extends Kathy Ireland

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/20/2003 12:00:00 AM

Shaw Rugs unveiled at the Atlanta International Area Rug market this week a new extension of high-end rugs to its Kathy Ireland licensed program.

The new collection, Gallery, is the line's highest priced assortment, comprised of rugs made of a new proprietary yarn system Shaw calls "Comfort Touch." Jeff Meadows, division vp, described it as "polypropylene that looks like wool but feels like cotton."

"This is a complete departure from what we've been doing," Meadows said. "It targets our same customers but it gives them the opportunity to step up the product and the price."
