Arlee Showroom Changes Floors at 261 Fifth

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/8/2007 12:00:00 AM

After more than a decade on the sixth floor of 261 Fifth Avenue here, Arlee Home Fashions has moved its showroom to the building's 11th floor and its offices to the mezzanine.

The two spaces combined occupy less than the approximate 18,000 square feet the company leased on the sixth floor, ceo Bud Frankel told HTT.

"We just didn't need all of the space we had before," Frankel explained, adding that the new showroom takes up about 7,000 square feet and the mezzanine offices occupy the same amount of space. "It's not as big, but we had a lot of wasted space before."

Arlee's previous home took up the entire sixth floor, with the elevators opening up to its reception area. Frankel added that this new setup is more conducive to Arlee's streamlined programs. "We're now focusing on the more profitable businesses and not spreading ourselves thin."

The 11th floor space is home to the showroom and Frankel's office. The mezzanine houses the back offices, including design and product development.
