Dean Miller surfs into Revman

By Andrea Lillo -- Home Textiles Today, 4/21/2003 12:00:00 AM

Dean Miller Prints will bring its surf board, hibiscus and other tropical looks to the product line of Revman Industries, under a new licensing agreement.

After starting its business three years ago and producing its product out of a sewing facility here, the company acquired a nationwide specialty retailer account and needed to partner with a manufacturer that could better handle such an account.

"We liked Revman's production facilities and their distribution, along with their designers," said Doug Smith, founder, Dean Miller.

Dean Miller will still use its facility for smaller accounts, while Revman will be going offshore to source the top of bed and sheeting lines.

A specialty retailer will feature the bedding on two beds in every store in its Back-to-School promotion, he said. Out of Dean Miller's 20 prints available, the retailer will include six.

The sheets, previously 200-count, will bump up to 250-count cotton under the Revman agreement, Smith added, and a full sheet set will retail for $50, while a full/queen duvet will be $125.

"It's the perfect accent to your beach lifestyle. I looked at the industry, and everything was so bland and similar; I just wanted to add a little fun and bring some island accents into the home. It just conjures up warm visions of beautiful islands and tropical paradises."
