Kmart names Barclay VP
Kmart Management Corp. has named Ed Barclay vp of asset protection, reporting to Julian Day, president and ceo. Barclay will be responsible for all aspects of asset management for Kmart's store base, distribution centers and headquarters, as well as risk management, including loss prevention, food safety, corporate safety, check recovery services, investigations, and asset protection training and information. Barclay joins Kmart from Sears, where he was vp, asset protection from 1993 to 2002.
Family Dollar appoints Gehl
Keith Gehl has been named svp, real estate and store construction, at Family Dollar. Gehl joins the company from Food Lion, LLC, a supermarket chain, where he was evp of business strategy and store development.
IMRA Convention in September
The International Mass Retail Association has announced several industry leaders to headline presentations at its annual convention, including David Perdue, ceo, Dollar General, and Coleman Peterson, evp, People division, Wal-Mart. The convention, to be held September 14 to 16 at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, will include a number of sessions, including "Love the One You're With: Maximizing Lifetime Customer Loyalty," "Innovating for Supply Chain Efficiency," and "Strategic Sourcing — How It Can Work For You."
