Sheftex chairman dies at 69

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/14/2004 12:00:00 AM

Memorial services were held on May 28 for Sheftex chief Elliot Sheftman, 69, who passed away after several years of battling heart problems.

Sheftman, who was chairman and CEO of the family-owned business, joined the company at the age of 17. During his tenure, the company expanded from a drapery business into comforters and then into a broad array of bedding products.

"He was a dedicated and honorable man, blessed with a very positive attitude that enriched the lives of many people. He will be fondly remembered and terribly missed," said Morton Wendman, a family friend.

His son, Lee Sheftman, president, now assumes the responsibilities of managing and directing the company. He is the third generation of the family to do so.

The late Elliot Sheftman is survived by his wife, Clara; his daughter, Randi; his son, Lee; and his sister, Ruth.
