NEW YORK —
Though billed as a contemporary furniture exhibition, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Javits Center here last week clearly put the spotlight on rugs, and to a lesser extent on decorative pillows, quilts and bedding.
The rug exhibitors, mostly at the high end of the market, and definitely into unique designs and constructions, offered a broad range of contemporary feelings from retro '60s and '70s to crisp, linear designs as well as elements of whimsy that is the ICFF's signature.
In the home textiles, bedding was low to the floor, typical of the trend for many furniture introductions. Decorative pillows were abundant, with luxurious covers and unique fabrications as key elements.
