New York —
Springs Global will roll out an extensive home goods collection with apparel designer Diane von Furstenberg in January 2011 that will include bedding, bath, tabletop, and decorative accessories.
The launch will take place at department stores in the United States and abroad as well as better home stores and on DVF.com. The goal is a balance of distribution between the United States, Europe and Asia, according to Joe Granger, president of Springs' brand business.
The tabletop — a new product category for Springs — will include dinnerware, serving pieces and giftware. Bedding and accessories will be inspired by nature and contemporary art as well as von Furstenberg's vintage and current fashion prints.
The designer recently re-entered the home category with a collection of hand-made rugs produced by The Rug Company. In addition, she is developing a to-the-trade textiles collection. Her last foray in home took place during the 1970s in partnership with Sears.
For Springs, the deal adds a new upper-tier brand alongside its luxury Court of Versailles collection. It's most recent high-profile apparel designer line was with Kate Spade.
“Springs Global innovative leadership in the home furnishings world will create a perfect execution of Diane's style,” said Granger.
