Scalamandre debuts online closeout store

New York – Luxury home décor fabric brand Scalamandre has launched an e-commerce outlet site featuring fabrics available both to its core, interior design customer, and to retail consumers at large.
"The idea behind the online outlet store is that everybody loves a bargain, especially those in the know when it comes to designer fabrics and home decor," said Mark Bitter, co-ceo of the 80-plus-year-old, family-owned company.
Price points start at $10 per yard. Cotton and linen prints, silk damasks, lampas, small scale jacquards and outdoor fabrics are all available at the “Outlet Store” section of www.scalamandre.com, the company said.
"Typically, we would sell our closeouts to a local fabric retailer. Recently we have decided in favor of an online model offering the closeouts to both the public and designers as a number of customers have complained that the closeouts were only available in New York,” Bitter explained.
While consumers have access to the closeouts, the rest of the line will be open only to the interior design trade.
