Textile designers CAD group launched

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 2/5/2007 1:20:00 PM

New York – Two textile designers based here have announced the formation of ACTD - the Association of CAD Textile Designers. CAD stands for "computer aided design." The ACTD objective is to promote and encourage the use of CAD for textile design in the home and fashion industries.

“We plan on doing this by networking with other professionals who use CAD, by exchanging resources, by sharing knowledge, and by giving members the ability to post their work on our site, and to post job opportunities as well,” said organizers Jennifer Munich and Makiko Kato.

The first ACTD event is set for Thursday, Feb. 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Stitch, 247 W. 37th Street (between 7th and 8th Aves.) The event is free with a cash bar; R.S.V.Ps are encouraged at info@actdnyc.com.

“We plan on having networking sessions once a month, and we invite anyone who is involved in textile design or those that are interested in it to come attend our networking events as well,” they said. Information is available at www.actdnyc.com.
