Next Creations Unveils New Lines
Eco Comforter, Loft, Raymond Waites are Highlights

At the New York Market —
A new eco-friendly, solid color comforter; a new collection of duvet and comforters called New York Loft; and a younger approach to its benchmark decorative bedding line by Raymond Waites highlight the introductions this market at Next Creations.
The new basic comforter comes in two versions: an all-bamboo shell, woven as a 250 thread count sateen and filled with the corn-derived fiber Ingeo; and the same fill in an organic cotton shell with organic or eco-friendly dyes.
In addition, said Michael Vidra, Next president, is the development of biodegradable packaging and a collection of prints using vegetable dyes.
The solid color comforters are $129 for the queen.
New York Loft, seven duvets including prints, is a new sub-brand, Vidra said. Design themes range from a paisley in Mia; to Monique, an embroidered contemporary design; and Laura, a classic look on a linen embroidery.
The comforters retail for $249; the duvets for $79 and $129 — all for the queen size.
In the main bedding collection, Vidra explained, "We are catering to a younger consumer this market, but still one who is after the traditional look. There aren't as many bells and whistles. There's more tailoring."
The Raymond Waites collection has an important new solid color fabric used on most of the beds as a major piece or as embellishment — a 60% silk/40% polyester blend.
Included in the seven style introductions are Veranda, a floral damask with a matelasse coverlet and Euro shams; Lenox, a subtle paisley in espresso/mocha with trim of the new silk blend solid and velvet tape; and Moulin, an embroidered frame design with pleating.
Next also is offering six coverlets. "They're becoming very important," Vidra pointed out. "They're multi-purpose and it's easy bed dressing. It takes the best of a bedspread in weight, and the best of a comforter in style — and is less expensive than a comforter."
The coverlet will retail for under $100 for the queen.
