Sunham in Angela Adams debut

New York – Sunham Home Fashions will launch a major bed, bath and rug collection designed by Angela Adams, a designer noted for her inspirations from nature in a contemporary mood during the that kicks off March 9.

The collection consists of four beds – comforters, sheet sets, embroidered and quilted pillows, appliquéd suede pillows, bath towels, shower curtains, bath rugs and bath accessories. “There are gorgeous bath rugs and fun towels,” Adams told HTT.

New to the designer’s product mix for this market are quilts and duvets. “I’m super excited by them,” Adams remarked. “It’s gorgeous quality; the designs are lots of fun and they are the result of Sunham’s really talented design team – they’re a hardworking team.”

Her design signature continues to focus on nature, simplicity in design and lightheartedness, with comfort as the motivator.

Adams, whose color palette often is bright and bold, said her color favorites change periodically. “I started by being most excited by the bright, mid-day ocean and sky blues. But now I’m favoring a more relaxing sea spray.”

She added, “It’s an optimistic view.” For market, she commented, “We’re trying to create a showroom that is peaceful, but timely and appropriate for the time. It’s been a real challenge.”

Next down the road from Sunham will be kitchen textiles along with a new “luxe gift specialty program,” she related. Future home textiles programs “will be multi-tier – a variety of levels, including more luxe.”

The designer previously was licensed to Homestead in a collection that launched in 2005. “We had a great run; the contract expired and we made a strategic decision,” Adams said of the new affiliation with Sunham.

Soon to be announced is a furniture license that will mark her debut in that segment of the home furnishings business. Previously her aesthetic was translated into a designer collection created by her husband, Sherwood Hamill.

Her designer rugs are part of the Angela Adams Collection banner, which along with tiles at Ann Sachs and Hamill’s furniture are marketed to interior designers. In addition, there are rugs with Shaw Living, Shaw Hospitality and Shaw Contract targeted to the residential, hospitality and contract markets respectively; a sustainable wall coverings collection with MDC; and upholstery fabrics for the contract market with Architex.
