Dekor's Smith out

ATLANTA —

With the sudden shutdown of retailer Dekor, Bryan Smith, who was its flooring merchant, is among those who were laid off. Prior to joining Dekor, where he oversaw all of the flooring categories, including tile, area rugs, wood, vinyl, laminates and carpet, Smith spent five years with Flooring America as vp, merchandising.

Before that, he spent 18 years at Sandler and Worth, Springfield, NJ, where he was a buyer.

Though he has worked primarily in retail, he said he will explore wholesale as well. "I'm looking in both directions; I'm open to new opportunities." Because of his experience, he has knowledge of "every category of flooring today," he said, though he prefers the rug category.
