Retailer of the Year Awards recognize industry achievement

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. —
Winners of the 19th annual Retailer of the Year Awards have been announced by the New York Home Textiles Show and the Home Fashion Products Association (HFPA).
The awards recognize retailers for achievement and commitment to the home fashions industry in five categories, while a Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual who has significantly contributed to home textile merchandising.
Retail categories recognized by the 2004 awards include value department store, consumer direct, specialty boutique, international service and neighborhood discounter. The 2004 Retailer of the Year Award winners are:
International Service Award: Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Dallas, Texas. Marilyn Iverson, chief operating officer will accept the award on behalf of Army Air Force Exchange Service.
Neighborhood Discounter: Family Dollar, Charlotte, N.C. Irv Neger, senior vice president of Softlines and Home, will accept the award on behalf of Family Dollar.
Consumer Direct: JC Penney Direct, Plano, Texas. John Irvin, president of JC Penney Catalog and Internet will accept the award on behalf of JC Penney Direct.
Specialty Boutique: The Linen Store and Home Décor, Delray Beach, Fla. Thom D'Addario, general manager, will accept the award on behalf of The Linen Store and Home Décor.
Value Department Store: Tuesday Morning, Dallas, Texas. William H. Kendall, vice president of buying will accept the award on behalf of Tuesday Morning.
Lifetime Achievement Award: George Greenberg, president, Pioneer Linens, West Palm Beach , Fla.
The 2004 Retailer of the Year Awards will be presented at a dinner on Sunday evening, March 28, at New York City's Pierre Hotel, during the spring New York Home Textiles Market.
