Don Scarlata, president, is content keeping his operation-formerly known as Colonial Mills-a strictly domestic manufacturer of area rugs.
Since 1977 when the company was incorporated, it has produced machine-made braided texture rugs, including polypropylene, nylon, cotton, acrylic and polyester blends and wool blends, as well as retine and chenille yarns.
"I'm a domestic manufacturer and I want to stay that way," Scarlata said. "I want to maintain control."
Adding that CMI is not presently considering importing any product from overseas, Scarlata said, "For us it's a matter of having control and better servicing our customers."
We would love your feedback!
