Tupelo, MS — Hancock Fabrics named James Austin to the new position of executive vp, operations, a newly created position.
Since 1995, Austin was dmm for linens, domestics and window fashions at Wards, which went out of business earlier this year. Prior to that, he held merchandising management positions at Tuesday Morning and Waccamaw Linen.
Austin will report directly to Jack Busby Jr., president and coo, and will oversee merchandising, marketing, store operations and distribution.
In making the announcement, Larry Kirk, ceo, said, "We are very pleased to have a retail executive of Jamie Austin's experience and ability as a member of our senior staff.
"His leadership ability and merchandising background will complement a proven team of merchants as we continue to reposition the company into areas of greater growth potential."
