HomeBase to conserve energy in CA, NV stores

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 3/26/2001 12:00:00 AM

IRVINE, CA -To help save energy during the power shortage in California and other western states, HomeBase has contracted with Novar Controls to implement an energy conservation program at its five House2Home stores in California and Nevada

House2Home will work with Novar Controls to install an energy management system that controls energy functions and helps reduce energy levels in many areas throughout the stores. This will include daylighting, which automatically shuts off large groups of lights during the day and allows skylights to illuminate the stores, as well as air-conditioning conservation, while not affecting store operations. Special signage will be placed throughout the stores to alert consumers about the new program.

"House2Home is happy to do our part in energy conservation during the state's energy shortage, and we think our customers will appreciate our efforts to address this important issue," said Tom Gallagher, executive vp, operations. "With Novar Controls' expertise in energy infosystems, we look forward to making energy management a permanent part of our operational practices."
