ShopKo reorganizes management

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 1/20/2003 12:00:00 AM

Shaking up its merchandising, marketing and replenishment operations, ShopKo Stores Inc. has named Kevin Easton corporate executive vp and ShopKo division chief merchandising officer, effective immediately.

Easton joined ShopKo in 2001, following a 12-year stint at Target Corp. as senior vp and gmm, apparel. He reports directly to Sam Duncan, president and ceo.

"I am delighted to have Kevin lead our transformation to a genuinely merchandising-driven operation," said Duncan. "He brings a wealth of experience and leadership to our business and will be a critical contributor as we refine our strategic direction."

Easton joined ShopKo two years ago after his time at Target, most recently as vp/merchandise manager. He had earlier worked at the F&R Lazarus and Sanger Harris/Foley's divisions of Federated Department Stores.

In a related move, three senior managers are leaving ShopKo. Their jobs are being eliminated and their responsibilities reassigned to other executives who will now report to Easton. Gary Hillerman had been senior vp and gmm, hardlines; Steven Harig had been senior vp, planning replenishment & analysis, distribution & transportation; and Terry McDonald had been senior vp, marketing and communications.
