Fux Foundation, Celebs Fete Hospital Kids

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 12/15/2008 12:00:00 AM

The Michael Fux Foundation hosted a holiday present giveaway on Sunday, Dec. 7, joined by entertainment and sports celebrities including Timbaland, Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, Gloria Estefan, Tim Hardaway, Charlie Johnson and Dwight Stephenson.

The event, at the Coconut Grove Expo Center decorated as a "winter wonderland," was enjoyed by more than 750 patients from Miami Children's Hospital and the Children's Cancer Caring Center and their families. More than 3,000 attendees found a petting zoo, craft tables and inflatable amusements.

Disco diva Gloria Gaynor and seven-year-old piano prodigy Ethan Bortnick performed midway through the all-day event.

The first event was held in 2004; it has grown each year.

The Foundation helps grant holiday wishes. It was created by home textiles industry figure Michael Fux, who founded foam sleep product supplier Sleep Innovations.

"There is a lot of work that goes into the event, but it's all worth it to see the faces of these children and their families," said Fux.
