Ruia Home adds pricier bamboo, organic rugs

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 9/18/2008 1:28:00 PM

At the New York Market – New natural fiber offerings in bamboo and organic cotton take the Ruia Home bath programs up a notch in quality and price bracket.

Customers are demanding these goods, especially in the West Coast and Canadian markets, the company said.

The organic cotton rugs are priced about 25% higher than average cotton varieties; the bamboo bath rugs are set to sell for 25% to 30% higher.

To offset these higher priced goods, Ruia has come up with a new bamboo/cotton blend style – this one containing 20% bamboo rather than 50% – resulting in a price differential from regular cotton rugs of just 12%.

In other news, Ruia brought to market a thicker, heavier and more textured version of a chindi rug. These pieces, which give much more comfort underfoot, are set to retail for $7.99 to $9.99 vs. regular chindis, which Ruia said sell for $4.99 to $6.99.
