At the New York Market – Window treatment supplier A. L. Ellis reported strong interest in insulated foam-back tab top panels, such as its Fireside line, by buyers from catalog retailers and regional chains this market, according to sales director John Levanchy.
Consumer awareness of high home heating costs was a driver, agreed Mike Ellis, principal of the Fall River, Mass.-based domestic manufacturer. Ellis added that the company is not overly concerned with the looming economic recession; his perspective is that curtain makers can thrive during times of tighter household budgets.
The company also relies on dependable repeat business for its core fashion programs, which are country or transitional in character. Retailers have many ways to tie in without being sku-intensive,” observed Levanchy.
