Williams Sonoma taps new coo

SAN FRANCISCO — Williams-Sonoma Inc. has promoted Jim Boike to coo, with responsibility for the strategic direction, merchandising and operations for the company's premium brands and for the retail store organization for all retail concepts.
In his new post, Boike will take day-to-day control of the company's premier franchises, including Williams-Sonoma, Hold Everything and Chambers. Most recently, Boike had been executive vp and general manager for the Williams-Sonoma premium brands.
In his 12 years at Williams-Sonoma, Boike has held the positions of district manager, regional manager, vp, stores, senior vp, merchandising for both Hold Everything and Williams-Sonoma, and executive vp, retail operations.
"Jim's merchandising and operations skills, as well as his years of experience managing multiple brands and channels at Williams-Sonoma, make him uniquely qualified for his new position," said Dale Hilpert, ceo.
