COMMERCE, CA —
COMMERCE, CA – Pacific Coast Home Furnishings has rolled out its Sherry Kline-branded embellished towels and freestanding line with upwards of 30 new styles in eight colors. Fabrics include suede, velvet, jacquards and chenille with fancy tassels and hems and will retail from $15.99 to $29.99.
The company also introduced 15 bedding patterns during fall market to retail for $149.99 to $399.99 queen comforter, and 48 fancy table runners embellished with tassels and gimping in the $15.99 to $49.99 range. Every comforter features domestic hand-sewn outline stitching but four out of the 15 new looks were created overseas. In decorative pillows, the Pacific Coast featured 150 new patterns in burnout velvet; exotic silks; metallic damask; knotted chenille; embossed, embroidered and printed microsuede; animal woven prints; faux leather; and tropical chenille looks at $12.99 to $99.99 price points.
"We really focus on how we accessorize the beds with the different fabrics and pillows we use," explained Sam Samani, vp product development. Company execs said they are trying to bring couture, quality and value to mass merchants while remaining focused on top of bed designs.
"The whole idea actually started with our decorative pillows," recalled Samani. "Since the pillows sold very well, we created our freestanding pillow line and our pillow business grew tremendously. Then we created a stand alone table runner and placemat program, and that part of our business also grew to become a new category."
Samani added that since the focus of the company's new embellished towel business was mainly on patterns that coordinated with bedding, it really did not have multiple resources for towel blanks and therefore had limited assortment. He explained, "Since the coordinating towels were doing well where we had them placed, our customers kept asking for more freestanding styles. With some help from our retailers, we were able to get connected with some very reliable resources for velour and terry towel blanks at all price levels."
Pacific Coast now has resources in India, South Africa, Vietnam and the U.S., with manufacturing at its plant. Said Samani, "We feel this is going to help boost sales with current customers tremendously and open a lot of new doors in the near future."
