Liebenow named to trade advisory committee

By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 12/17/2002 2:04:00 PM

Washington — Larry Liebenow, president and ceo of Quaker Fabric, has been named a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN).

The 32 members of the committee will serve two-year terms.

The purpose of ACTPN, according to the White House in a release, is "to provide the U.S. trade representatives with overall policy advice on matters concerning objectives and bargaining positions before entering into a trade agreement, the operation of any trade agreement once entered into, and other matters arising in connection with trade policy of the United States."

Liebenow, who also serves as chairman of the United States Chamber of Commerce board of directors, is the only committee member representing the home furnishings/decorative fabric markets. Other members include representatives of non-federal governments and labor, industry, small business, service industries, retailer and consumer interests.
