Tis the Season for Linens and Bedding

Table linens, bedding and pillows for kids, and flannel sheets are the key categories of home textiles in many retailers' Christmas catalogs this season.
Overall, the presence of home textiles in these marketing vehicles has declined significantly as a holiday statement. Bloomingdale's is a case in point. The New York-based department-store chain focused mostly on apparel and fragrances in the first of a five-part series of holiday catalogs, virtually eliminating the home area from its initial Christmas catalog. The home area will have a bigger presence in each of the next catalogs, which are scheduled to drop throughout this month.
Similarly, bold Christmas holiday motifs on bedding, decorative pillows, and bath and bath accessories have been tempered by most retailers to the point where the evergreens and other subtle accent designs are more frequently used.
And as another sign of the times, JCPenney already has issued a sale Christmas catalog as well as flyers offering 30% to 50% off its fall and winter catalogs, along with its Christmas Gift Book.
