Bardwil Expanding into Eco-friendly Window

New York —
Bardwil Linens is evolving its 100% recycled Evolution collection of table linens with an expanded assortment of colors, patterns and, more significantly, new product category offerings previously uncharted by the company.
Through Evolution, Bardwil is for the first time offering a soft window treatment line and a collection of matching chair pads.
“It's a logical product expansion for us within the recycled product category,” explained Nancy Kristoff, president of sales and marketing. “And chair pads also make sense now for us in achieving a coordinated look for the kitchen and dining room that is eco friendly.”
Evolution first launched in September 2008 as a table linen collection in one pattern and 10 colors. It takes 37 recycled plastic beverage bottles to make a single 60-inch-by-84-inch tablecloth, and three such bottles to manufacture a napkin for Evolution.
Earlier in 2008, Bardwil coo Derek Pierce secured an exclusive partnership with eco-textiles product manufacturer Libolon, a division of Taiwan-based textiles supplier Lei Pen, to catapult the company into its first sustainability effort.
As Kristoff put it, the effort has worked well enough to warrant further expansion expansion. The debut of the new product offerings is set for Sept. 14 to 18 during the New York Home Fashions Market.
Bardwil has previewed the new Evolution products with several retailers and has already received “a very strong reception,” she said, which is expected to expand the line into new distribution channels.
The original Evolution program is currently carried at one major chain and several smaller stores.
The three new colors being added to Evolution are white, blue stone, and sea grass. There are also four new textural patterns, bringing the total to five.
The soft window treatment assortment comprises curtains and matching tiers and the chair pads contain recycled poly fill.
In addition, the table linens assortment – comprising tablecloths, runners, placemats and napkins – will grow to include the new palettes and patterns.
Because of Evolution's construction, the pieces are all stain resistant and water repellant. All items are machine washable.
“It is now that the consumer is demanding 'green' product offerings for her home in our product categories,” Kristoff said. “Since its debut, Evolution has been a very strong seller. The retailers find that the consumers are really responding to the products not only for their eco-friendly qualities and great colors and design, but also for their easy-care attributes.”
We would love your feedback!
