Islip, NY — The Ulster Linen Co., established in 1933 in Manhattan, has relocated its headquarters here. The new 6,000-square-foot space houses Ulster's administrative offices and distribution center.
Jacqueline Mihaley, director of marketing, told HTT that Ulster moved to avoid paying inflating rent costs as well as to increase the size of its distribution facility space.
Ulster's old facilities measured 4,000 square feet. The company also leased additional space from a warehouse in Brooklyn, NY.
"The new space allowed us to consolidate all of our operations into a single place," Mihaley said. "Our turnaround is much faster now. We are able to get orders out the same day if necessary."
Ulster is also opening a new Manhattan showroom at 225 Fifth Avenue in time for the upcoming New York Gift Show. The company signed the lease last month and is currently making repairs and setting up new product displays.
Ulster is an importer of table and tea linens, kitchen textiles, bed and bath linens and linen handkerchiefs made in Czechoslovakia, Ireland and Russia.
