Wal-Mart elevates two in senior management
Wal-Mart promoted Tom Coughlin to executive vp and vice chairman of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for the U.S. and will now oversee all U.S. retail operations, including walmart.com, logistics, real estate development and global procurement. He will continue to oversee discount stores, supercenters and Sam's Clubs, as he did in his previous position as president and ceo of the Wal-Mart Stores division. Also promoted was Mike Duke, now executive vp, president and ceo of the Stores division. He becomes responsible for merchandising and operations at U.S. discount stores, supercenters and Neighborhood Markets. Previously he was executive vp of administration reporting to Scott.
ShopKo taps two for divisional vp slots
ShopKo Stores has hired Larry Gentry as vp of store operations and promoted Joseph Zink to divisional vp of season, toys and decorative home. Both are assigned to the 141-unit ShopKo division. Gentry was previously at Fred Meyer, where he worked for 27 years, most recently as senior vp of the operations group. Zink was most recently vp of replenishment.
HSN names new execs at dot-com unit
Home Shopping Network has named Frank Han executive vp and general manager of hsn.com and appointed Richard Ogawa vp of hsn.com merchandising and Scott Sanborn vp of hsn.com marketing. Han, one of the co-founders of eToys, will oversee online merchandising, online marketing, technology and operations for the site. He was previously senior vp of e-commerce for Park Place Entertainment. He will report to Bob Rosenblatt, president of HSN-U.S. Ogawa, previously founder of REcommerce Group, a global e-business consulting group, and Sanborn, previously vp of account services at Agency.com, will report to Han.
