Beaulieu Canada to resume Acton Vale plant ops

Acton Vale, Quebec, Canada -- After several months of negotiations, Beaulieu Canada’s plant here will remain open, upon a majority of its employees accepting new wages they had demanded from the company.
The final collective agreement included wage concessions that the company said it “deemed necessary in order to remain competitive amid challenging market conditions.” This latest offer was approved by 67% of the site’s employees on Oct.31.
The plant produces myriad carpet products for residential and commercial markets and features a state-of-the-art Chromojet printer. Production had been largely transferred to the U.S. during the strike period. Operations at the plant are expected to resume over the next few days, Beaulieu Canada said.
“We would like to thank our customers who showed unwavering support throughout the labor conflict” said Marcel Sirois, vp of operations. “With the plant fully operational, we will be able to provide the great service that our customers have learned to expect from Beaulieu.”
