Schumacher promotes North to vp/creative director

New York – Upscale fabric and wallcovering company F. Schumacher & Co. has promoted Susan North to senior vp-design/creative director of Schumacher.

Schumacher president Gerald Puschel said North, who has been with Schumacher for the past 13 years, has “consistently given Schumacher the kind of creative leadership needed to keep the company at the very top in a highly competitive field.”

North joined the company in 1997 as director of design of Greeff, one of Schumacher’s fabric and wallcovering lines.

Five years later, she was promoted to vp, design, Interior Design Group, responsible for directing the design staff for Schumacher, Greeff, and Decorators Walk and overseeing the development of fabrics and wallcovering for each brand.

In April 2007, when the brands were consolidated, North was named vp, design, Schumacher.

In her new role, she is charged with continuing to direct the Schumacher design staff, overseeing all creative aspects of the Schumacher fabric, wallcovering and furnishing design in addition to all new product development for the Schumacher brand. She is also responsible for the creative direction of the brand and all aspects of brand image, including visual merchandising. And she partners with the company’s marketing and sales teams to assist in achieving the Schumacher brand goals.
