LOUISVILLE, KY —
Top-of-the-bed and accessories manufacturer Quilts by Donna will be on to bigger things later this summer, having begun construction on a new 30,000-square-foot office and warehouse facility last week.
The company, now in an 18,000-square-foot building, expects to move into the new facility by August. Located in suburban Shepherdsville, KY, the building can be expanded up to 50,000 square feet.
"Our business has been really good, and we needed more space," said Donna Sharp, who founded the company in 1997. The company has moved locations three times already because of its growth. "We decided to go ahead and build something this time, instead of leasing like we've done previously."
Quilts by Donna, which has annual sales of several million dollars, needed the additional space to perform its shipping, packaging and stocking functions. The product line, which includes quilts, bed skirts, valances, throws, rugs and quilted jackets and purses, is imported from China, and targets specialty stores.
