Pitti Casa throws color, technology at buyers

Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 11/19/2001 12:00:00 AM

Exuberant color, lots of wool in thick and cuddly weaves for throws and pillows, and a number of innovative technological fabric developments highlighted Pitti Immagine Casa here this fall.

Richness of color, almost exotic in feeling, was the major message, whether in decorative pillows, bedding or table linens. At the same time, the traditional luxury end of the home textiles business stood fast to its pale beiges, off-whites, ecrus and white.

The emergence of wool as the fiber of choice delivered some outstanding offerings. Big, loopy yarns were fashioned into throws, rugs and decorative pillows, with the hand soft, in contrast to the visual impression of the yarns. In other interpretations, wool was used in fine, soft delicate weaves for table linens and throws.
