By Staff -- Home Textiles Today, 6/19/2002 12:00:00 AM

Purchase, NY — Services were held here for Herman "Hy" Albert, 79, former owner and ceo of Spectrum Fabrics, who died Sunday.

Albert joined Spectrum in 1947 and became president in 1964. The company later was sold to Consolidated Foods, now Sara Lee. In 1980, he acquired partial ownership and in 1984 became sole owner. In 1992, a private investment group acquired a majority interest in the company, which was sold to Covington Industries in 1994.

Albert is survived by his wife, Ruth, as well as a daughter, a son and daughter-in-law and three sisters.
