Bardwil readies Lenox rollout

By Cecile B. Corral -- Home Textiles Today, 2/4/2002 12:00:00 AM

Bardwil Linens, which last September signed a licensing deal with fine china and dinnerware brand Lenox, is getting ready to unveil its new line of casual, formal and holiday table linens this during the annual winter market here.

The initial collection includes tablecloths, place mats and napkins featuring about 15 Lenox designs in approximately 25 variations of looks.

Because the Lenox brand has begun placing a stronger emphasis on more casual looks for dining, Bardwil created a series of looks to support that program using three Lenox patterns: Swedish Lodge, featuring pale blues and white rendered on an engineered print, a textured solid and a linen jacquard; Butterfly Meadow, a Lenox garden collection designed with botanical flowers and butterflies rendered on both solid and printed linens, including a trellis floral print on cotton and a linen cloth in four soft pastel colorways; and Butlers Pantry, a neutral solid-color program featuring an engineered woven border, a pieced linen and a chenille damask in white and ivory.

Further building on its fledgling but growing kitchen textiles lineup, Bardwil created a series of coordinating kitchen towels, oven mitts and pot holders for its Swedish Lodge and Butterfly Meadow collections.

The Lenox line's basic and formal collections were designed to mix and match with the brand's casual and formal china. This overall solid group includes solid wovens, linens, damasks and a white burnout lace. The key damask pattern is Laurel Leaf, an elegant basic available in eight colors.

Finally, the holiday collection for Lenox was designed around the brand's fine and casual patterns, including Holiday Nouveau, Holiday Fine and Winter Greetings. In table linens, Bardwil created a grouping of prints, damasks, cross-dye damasks, embroideries, cutworks, matelasses and several engineered prints on damasks, crepes and cottons, including patterns that coordinate to Holiday Nouveau and the Winter Greetings casual collection.

Overall, Bardwil's Lenox line comprises 20 tablecloths and more than 40 skus.

Price points for tablecloths range from $24.99 to $69.99.

New York-based Audrey Linens held the Lenox license prior to Bardwil.
